Convert PPTX to MOBI
Updated Jul 2026
PPTX is a slide deck, built from layout, images, and often animation. MOBI is a reflowable ebook format, built for older Kindles to display plain text. Converting PPTX to MOBI pulls the text and images off each slide and lays them out one after another as ebook pages, done right on your own computer without uploading the file anywhere.

How to convert PPTX to MOBI
- Open Morphjet and drag in the PPTX file, or a whole folder of presentations.
- Choose MOBI as the output format.
- Convert. The MOBI file is written next to your original, and nothing leaves your machine.
PPTX vs MOBI: what actually changes
| PPTX | MOBI | |
|---|---|---|
| Structure | Slides, with layout, animation, and speaker notes | Reflowable text and images, one after another |
| File size | Larger, with formatting and embedded images | Smaller, mostly text |
| Quality | Lossless, exact slide design | Lossy, slide layout and design don't carry over |
| Compatibility | Needs PowerPoint or a compatible app | Reads on older Kindle devices and Mobipocket readers |
| Animations and transitions | Yes | No, lost in conversion |
| Speaker notes | Yes, stored with each slide | No, not carried over |
When to convert, and when not to
Convert PPTX to MOBI when you want to read a presentation's text and images as an ebook on an older Kindle, rather than presenting from the slides themselves.
Keep the PPTX if you actually need to present the deck, since MOBI drops slide layout, animations, transitions, and speaker notes entirely.
Why not just use an online converter?
Presentations often hold things you wouldn't want handed to a stranger, client pitches, financial figures, internal roadmaps. Send one through an online converter and it sits on someone else's server while it's processed. Converting on your own computer keeps the deck, and everything in it, on your machine the whole time.
Questions
Does converting PPTX to MOBI lose the slide design?
Yes. MOBI is a reflowable ebook format built for text, so slide layout, backgrounds, animations, and transitions don't carry over. What's left is the text and images from each slide, laid out one after another.
Will speaker notes come through?
No. Speaker notes are stored separately from the slide content in a PPTX file, and that isn't something MOBI can hold, so notes get left behind.
Can I read a MOBI file on a newer Kindle?
Newer Kindles are built around newer ebook formats, but most older Kindle models still open MOBI directly, since it was the standard before the switch.
Can I convert PPTX to MOBI without uploading the file?
Yes. Morphjet converts it locally on your Mac or PC, so the presentation never touches the internet. You can do it with your wifi off.
Morphjet converts PPTX, MOBI, and 1,800+ other formats, all on your machine. Launching this July.
