When to convert, and when not to
Convert DOC to PDF when you're sending a document to someone else, printing it, submitting it somewhere official, or want to make sure the formatting can't shift on another computer.
Keep the DOC if you or someone else still needs to edit the text, since converting to PDF is meant for a finished, read-only version.
Why not just use an online converter?
Old Word documents often carry the author's name, company, and a record of past edits buried in the file, even after you think you've cleaned it up. Does converting DOC to PDF change the formatting?
