Convert CSV to PNG
Updated Jul 2026
Converting a CSV to PNG turns the rows and columns into a flat image, a snapshot of the table, that anyone can view without opening a spreadsheet app. A converter reads the CSV and draws it as a picture you can drop into a doc, slide, or chat. Doing this on your own computer means the data in it never has to leave your machine.

How to convert CSV to PNG
- Open Morphjet and drag in the CSV file, or a whole folder of them, that you want to turn into an image.
- Choose PNG as the output format.
- Convert. Morphjet draws the table as a PNG and saves it next to the original, with no internet connection needed.
CSV vs PNG: what actually changes
| CSV | PNG | |
|---|---|---|
| File size | Small, just text characters | Larger, since every gridline and character is drawn as pixels |
| Editable | Yes, opens in any spreadsheet or text editor | No, it's a flat picture of the table |
| Machine-readable | Yes, other programs can read, sort, and total the data | No, once rendered it's just pixels |
| Opens everywhere | Needs a spreadsheet or text app | Yes, any image viewer, browser, or chat app |
| Quality | Exact, lossless numbers and text | Lossless as an image, but the data is frozen and can't be recalculated |
| Transparency | Not applicable | Supported, useful for dropping the table onto a slide |
When to convert, and when not to
Convert CSV to PNG when you want to share a quick look at your data, a snapshot of a table for a chat, README, doc, or slide, without asking the other person to open a spreadsheet.
Keep the CSV itself if anyone downstream needs to sort, filter, edit, or recalculate the numbers, because a PNG is just a picture of the data at that moment.
Why not just use an online converter?
Spreadsheets often hold things you wouldn't want on a stranger's server: budgets, customer lists, sales figures, personal records. Uploading a CSV to a web-based converter means that data sits on someone else's machine, even briefly. Converting on your own computer keeps the numbers exactly where they started, on your Mac or PC, with nothing sent out.
Questions
Does converting CSV to PNG lose any data?
The image itself doesn't lose quality, PNG is lossless, but once your table becomes a picture it's frozen. You can't sort, filter, or edit the numbers anymore, you can only look at them.
Will the PNG show my whole spreadsheet?
It shows whatever rows and columns are in the CSV, rendered as a table image. If your file has hundreds of rows, expect a tall image rather than something easy to read on a small screen.
Can I turn the CSV into a chart instead of a table image?
Morphjet renders the table as-is. If you want a bar chart or graph, build that in a spreadsheet app first, then export or screenshot the chart itself.
Why would I want a picture of data instead of the CSV file?
A PNG opens instantly in any browser, chat app, or slide deck, no spreadsheet software needed. It's for showing data at a glance, not for working with it.
Can I convert CSV to PNG without uploading my data?
Yes. Morphjet converts CSV files on your own computer, so the data in them never travels over the internet. It works with no connection at all.
Morphjet converts CSV, PNG, and 1,800+ other formats, all on your machine. Launching this July.
